Counseling Services
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is the perfect setting to develop better coping skills, communication strategies, process grief, increase self-esteem, or improve your relationships. I am happy to meet you where you are at whether you know exactly what you want to work on, or you do not know where to begin. The process is as unique as each person and provides the opportunity for greater insight and authentic self-expression.
Kids & Teens
We work with ages 4-18, offering individual counseling as well as parent support. We take a collaborative approach between clinician, client, and their parent(s)/caregivers. Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Child Centered Play, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Science, and trauma informed approaches pair well to improve self-esteem, communication habits, emotional regulation, and relationships with self and others.
Trauma Recovery
Trauma is not measured by the incident but by the impact. Research suggests that trauma is stored in the body which is why somatic approaches such as EMDR have proven to be successful in treating trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Talk therapy and EMDR are paired to help decrease reactivity to triggers, improve relationships with self and others, gain insight, and restore a sense of hope.
Couples Counseling
Relationships are complex and at times challenging. Working with a professional can help partners learn to identify deeper emotions, longings, and fears. It can also better equip you to navigate conflict and improve communication skills. Interventions are primarily based in attachment research, including Emotionally Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method.
Fees & Billing
Counseling Fees
We provide couples counseling as well as individual counseling to those who are 4+ years and older. Sessions range from $145 to $230 depending on the provider and service (see “About” page to learn each provider’s individual rates). Cash, check, credit/debit, and HSA cards are accepted.
Schedule
Clients sometimes like to come once a week, but circumstances may call for more in the beginning or you may wish to come less frequently. How often you come is up to you. Schedule can be discussed when you meet with your clinician and be adjusted as needed. We provide in-person and tele-health appointments. Sessions are typically scheduled for the standard 50-minute appointment, but longer appointments can be arranged with your individual provider if desired.
Out-Of-Network Insurance
Our services are covered by most insurances that include out-of-network, outpatient psychotherapy benefits. Out of network insurance plans differentiate between how much financially is covered or reimbursed by in and out of network providers. By using an OON provider, you as the client/patient take on the financial responsibility of payment. Not all insurance plans reimburse for OON providers. Clients pay up-front at time of session (or at the end of that day, when payment is processed) and, upon request, can be provided a bill to submit for reimbursement. It is the clients responsibility to find out the information from the insurance company and submit the claim. If there is any insurance reimbursement, it goes directly to the client. This is called the Fee For Service method.
You will be asked to submit a specific form (provided by our office) with the following information: Patient name, diagnosis code (in order for insurance to recognize the service as medical), procedure code, units for procedure code, the billed amount, and the place of service.
Questions for Inquiring about Out-Of-Network Benefits
1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? If so, what are they?
- What is the allowable amount for CPT code 90837? Is the rate different for telehealth versus office visits?
- What percentage of the allowable amount will insurance pay?
Note to client: Though you and the insurance company will be dividing the responsibility for paying the allowable amount, you will also be responsible for the difference between the clinician’s charge and the allowable amount. For example, if your clinician charges $170 for a session and the insurance company’s allowable rate for a session is $100 with the insurance paying 60% of the allowable rate, you would receive $60 from insurance and pay $110 out of pocket for the session.
- What is my deductible for out of network mental health providers?
- Is pre-certification or pre-authorization required before the initial visit?
- What forms need to be submitted to receive reimbursement?
- Where do the claims need to be sent?
- How long does it typically take to process a reimbursement after submitting a receipt?
- Is there any additional information you require?
